Specify the trench and spoil placement

Record the required finished trench width and depth, ground conditions and where excavated spoil can go. Check the attachment’s actual boom, chain and spoil-auger configuration. Different cutting components may suit different ground, so compare the installed equipment with the intended material rather than relying on the attachment family name.

Verify carrier and hydraulic fit

Confirm mounting, permitted flow and pressure, controls and hose routing. Check attachment mass and the carrier’s applicable operating limits. Evaluate visibility of the work area and how the carrier will move through the planned cut under the manufacturer’s procedure. Locate underground services through the applicable process before any demonstration cut.

Inspect the cutting system as a set

Check chain, teeth, sprockets, boom wear surfaces and adjustment condition. Inspect the spoil auger, drive, hoses and mount. Price replacement of the worn system together where the manufacturer requires it; a new-looking chain does not establish the condition of the sprockets or drive.
