Specify material and destination
Identify what will be handled, the bucket needed and the truck, hopper or stockpile receiving it. Ask the supplier to evaluate the material and bucket pairing. Do not translate bucket volume directly into allowable payload without the necessary material and machine information. Compare the exact clearance and reach definitions at the intended dumping position.
Match the bucket and linkage
Record bucket part number, coupler, linkage arrangement and tire configuration. Hinge-pin height is not the same as dump clearance. An alternate bucket or high-lift arrangement can change the working geometry and rating basis. Check visibility and interference with the actual tool, and confirm any scales or loading assistance are installed and functional.
Inspect articulation and tire condition
Request an assessment of articulation, steering, axles, driveline, brakes, lift linkage and coupler. Document tire size, construction, condition and any mismatched replacements. Tire replacement belongs in the purchase budget when inspection supports it. Have a qualified inspector distinguish operational symptoms from the repair required rather than relying on a short unloaded demonstration.
Account for the loading cycle
Consider the space to approach, turn and return to the pile. Include attachment changes, ground conditions and distance travelled in the utilization estimate. Compare initial service and repair costs with the expected work calendar. A machine with attractive capacity may be a poor match when the site layout forces difficult positioning or additional material handling.
